Hi everybody.....im 20 yrs old with a 1971 ford maverick that i got from my grandmother who just passed away. I want to fix and restore the car but i dont know any information on doing so. if u guys/gals can help me out i would really, really be happy On that note i have a current problem, the car stop working when my father was using it to drive to work. He believes its the alternator. If thats the problem, how would i go about finding the best part at a great price and some how install the new part?
You will need to find a Chilton manual first thing. A book that gives step by step instructions on how to fix most the the things that can go wrong. Then ask questions here, pics always help, and work your way through the car. And, welcome to the board
Alternators are available at most any parts store. They may take a couple of days to get them, but they are not expensive. Look on this site for 'VIN decoding' and decode your data tag info along with your VIN. That should give you an idea of what motor you have. I doubt Grandma did a hi performance engine swap! Good luck. Seth
For a wealth of information....come see lots of Maverick and Comets at the Maverick Comet Club International 14th Annual Roundup Nationals. You are in luck....our National show is July 24-28 in Virginia......Dulles, Virginia to be exact. Check it all out at: www.maverickcometclub.org
