what is the best way to flush out a motor that had a blown head gasket? by the way ROL gaskets are CRAP!!!!!! i blew a head gasket during break-in, and everything is new and rebuilt and was torqued to specs. i have the heads pulled now with the motor still in the mav, is there anything i should do before re-assembly?

Having blown a few myself, I'd say just get as much water out of the cylinder(s) as you can, change the oil and filter, coolant (if needed), and consider going to NEW ARP head bolts (with the threads dipped in motor oil before torquing). Torque in correct sequence. After 100 or so miles, re-torque the head bolts (and intake manifold and exhaust bolts), and change the oil and filter again.

a link for some good general information:

More than likely, you just got a bad gasket or the surface of the head/block arent true. (Even machinists can mess up) I've used ROL gaskets ever since I had 2 FEL pro head gaskets blow out within one minute of firing a fresh 357W with brand new and very straight dart heads. I've never had a problem. Probably something simple. Hope everything works out for you!

We always used kerosene to flush out the oil ports and stuff just put it in a garden sprayer and spray away.
