Ok my brake light is on i dont know what the problem is my brakes are all new i converted over to disks in the fround its a 71 comet, could it be becuase i have air in my line cuz i know im not low on fluid. I was talking to a mechanic he told me i need to devorce my brakes i did what he said but i guess my friend and I are not fast enought is there an easyer way to do this.
Sounds like there is still air in the lines. Are the brakes spongy at all or firm? The light will come on when the proportioning valve senses a pressure differance in the system..such as air would cause. Always bleed the brakes with the furthest one first ...and so on. After you are finished bleeding them..the light should be out..it it is not press firmly on the brake petal and the valve will re-centralize and the light wiil go out. Hope this helps some.
Anytime I put new calipers or brake cylinders on, I use this procedure: Like Grabber71 said, start with the RR. open the bleed screw, push the pedal to the floor, close the bleed screw, let up the pedal. Do this untill there is a good streem of fluid comming out. Then move to the LR, RF, and LF. After all that, you should have some pedal pressure. Then you can go around again pumping them in the normal manor.
