:hmmm: Check to see if there is a switch on your brake pedal, it will have a wire going to it. Maybe the wire is off or the unit is bad.

I worry about mine alot also, when I have someone check there fine, but the turn signals act up,never flash fast about 3 seconds or more apart and sometimes I have to do it manual in heavy traffic. The handle on the collum will not stay up for the right.I am missing a marker light(but its on the front) would this effect tail, brake light, turn signal issues.Shane it sounds like you have a ground problem, was the socket good and clean ? do you have tail lights?

Grab a test light and check 12v at the socket. Check grounds.
No juice?? Find someone flexible and jam them under the dash to check the fuse.

that's the one...do you have voltage going to the rear of the car from the switch?

I had a front light short out internally, and when I pressed the brakes, that side the tail light would go out and the other side would work properly. Unplug the front lights and try the rears, check grounds on front and rear lights, make sure you have 12 volts at the switch on the pedal and out from it when applied. Also check voltage at the sockets.

Years ago, I worked in the general garage business and IIRC, when you push your brake pedal down, you send the power up the steering comumn to the turn signal switch. Then the power goes down the 2 seperate rear turn signal wires to the high side of the 1157 bulb at the tail lights.

May be something wrong with the turn signal switch
