I read some where that not all maverick disc brakes are the same. I got a set of disc brakes from a car but didn't look to see what year it was because I thought that the disc brakes were all the same. So I need to know are they all the same or do I need to try and find out what year car these came off of so I can get new rotors and calipers before I put them on my car. Thanks Stephen
The spindles are all the same from '74 and newer. I heard that '74 calipers are different from '75-'77, but everything else is the same. Some of the earlier models outter tie-rods have a longer bolt, in which case you'd want to change them to later model tie-rods...
Speaking of disk brakes from a maverick........ are they 4 lug of 5 lug. I'd really like to some how find away to put on disk brakes and retain the 4 lug setup so I can keep the same wheels I have on my car now
I have also heard that you can get a 4-lug disc brake set-up for a Mustang that goes right on the Mustang drum brake spindle. Don't know why it wouldn't work for our cars.
Another Question The master cylinder is bad on the car I am putting the disc brakes on(69.5). Since I have to replace the master cylinder anyway should I get a disc brake one or replace with a what is on the car now? I don't have the prop valve or any of the brake lines from the car I pulled the disc from, if that makes a diference. Stephen
I would run your stock master cylinder and brake lines. I have done this to more than 1 car and have never had a problem.
