I have a set of Maverick bucket seats and Tracks out of another Maverick, that I want to put in a Maverick that has a Bench seat.
The minor problem I have is the bucket seat tracks were removed from the buckets seats for shipping.

Anyone have pic or description of how the tracks should mount to the bottom of the bucket seats? It looks like one side has spacers on them. Which should be driver side, passenger side, inside, outside track etc.?

Anything else to be aware of? I haven't pulled the bench seat out yet, but I thought I read something about the floor pans after 70' were already ready to accept either bench or buckets. Any drilling needed?

I figure this should be a pretty easy swap, I just wanted to get a heads up before starting, to make sure I have everything.

    Thanks,

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
as far as tracks.. the ones with spacers go near the tranny hump. the long piece goes on the back side and the washer with the little bell shaped spacer goes on the front. sliders lever always goes on the left side of the seat.

    hope that helps

you can go here seat install

look towards bottom of page and you should be able to see a few pics of were the spacers go.

as far as the floor pans.. sorry can help you there only owned 73's, 74's and 75's

Yes you'll need to drill two holes for each of the inside tracks, but if you lift up your carpet you should see small dimples in the floor pans to mark where you need to drill (about 13" from the holes for the outside tracks). You should also notice that there are already small "x" shaped holes cut in the carpet at these locations.

To mount the track to the seat there are 2 holes(one on each end of the track and one of them is oval and one of them is round). Bolts go through the holes up in to the rails on the bottom of the seat. If you are using Maverick seats the holes in the seat rails already have threaded spacers in them. You need to bolt the tracks to the seats before bolting the tracks to the floor because you have to slide the tracks from side to side to line up each hole.

    HELP! A setback

Thanks everyone for there advice. It did help, but I have another problem.

I have LDO seats and tracks out of a 75' Maverick that I am trying to put in a 74' Maverick. The problem is some 75's had catalyitic converters others did not and I am fortunate enough to have gotten seats and tracks from a 75' that had a catalyitic converter. Which I did not know until today! :(
The seat frame itself is different and so are the tracks.

Has anyone here put post 74' seats and tracks in a pre catalytic converter Maverick or Comet? I even tried to put tracks from a 72' on the 75' seats and it doesn't work either because the frame is different.:(

    Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your input! :)

I don't know of anyone having put post-converter bucket seats in a pre-converter car, but I would think it could be done.

If you could build the seat frame down to meet the pre-converter track it would work. (Either by welding or bolting channel or tubing onto the existing frame). I think you can model the frame of the driver's seat somewhat--Both of the legs on the drivers side bucket are more or less equal in height.

    Good luck!

    Thanks Doug,

The seats are pretty good seats!, and I want to keep them if I can and use them. I thought about using spacers on the inside rail near the hump to build it up to be the same height as the outside track, but the more I think about it, then the passenger seat may be higher than the driver side. :(

I am going to have to lay the two seats side by side . . . compare their frames and try to figure this out. I tried to do the swap before I went to the mini-meet this weekend, which would have been fine otherwise, but I ran into this problem, and it put a big wrinkle in my plans!

If you or anyone else thinks of anything else, please let me know.

    Thanks again,

I feel your pain, I had removed a passenger-side seat in the wrecking yard the other day, except for one remaining bolt, when I realized that it was a catalytic converter equipped car. I took the driver side tracks anyway, I figure the wife can ride in the back seat, at least I won't have to sit on a milk crate. :D

I went the opposite way and installed early rails in a later car. The way to do it is install the 2 outer rails and slide them both either foward or back, whichever works best. Then run a few strings across the mounts. You may have to shim the string up to clear the hump. Then you can measure down from the string to the point you need on that inner rail and see how much you need to add. In my case I had to cut a pie shaped wedge out of the rail and then weld the 2 halves back together. I would cut the rail in half. Bolt the lower section to the floor. brace the upper section against the string. Then you can make a template of what you need to add, cut it out of metal and weld the 2 halves together.

dude... been ther done it. just get some threaded rod and one of those long (maybe 1" )nuts with the same thread. in other words, i made an extension for the inside tracks. then use some kind ot spacer the go between the floor and the seat track. sounds kinda hokey buy if it works right?

Dan, at this point I haven't done anything with it. I did buy a bottom from a pre-cat car from Craig just recently, and I have plans to the swap the bases of the seats out.
