Bump steer is the term for the tendency of a wheel to steer as it moves upwards into jounce. It is typically measured in degrees per metre or degrees per foot.
On modern cars the front of the tire moves outwards, as the suspension is raised, a process known as the front wheels "toeing out". This gives roll understeer.

    definitions:
In physics, jounce or snap is the fourth derivative of the position vector with respect to time, with the first, second, and third derivatives being velocity, acceleration, and jerk, respectively; in other words, the jounce is the rate of change of the jerk with respect to time.

Understeer is a term for a car handling condition in which during cornering the circular path of the vehicle's motion is of a greater radius than the circle indicated by the direction its wheels are pointed

Ok I had the front end aligned today, now every time I hit a bump, ANY BUMP..my tires squeal loudly for a little while, I ask the alignment tech and he said my front end is too high and the control arms are at the wrong angle (too steep) and not letting the bumpsteer work properly.
Any suggestions as too how to fix this...I don't wanna change coil springs again (I like my fingers intact). would some compression of my springs help?

i'm gonna be cutting my coils... don't mind spring compressors too much. I've used spring clamps for the last 1000 miles or so with no problems. That might be an option.... idk. idk much lol.

    that doesnt seem quite right.
so the tires squeal after the car returns to correct ride hight?
do you have a pic of the side of the car that shows it ride hight?
stock they sat pretty high and lots of us have lowered them and have never had bump steer problems. im wondeing if something is left loose like the strut rod nuts or an upper controle arm nut.

Did you tighten everything up after the coil spring swap with weight of the car was on the ground?

What all did you do to your front end?
Sounds like somethings wrong, what are the tires rubbing against to make them squeel?

Nothing is loose checked by me and the alignment tech front end is very tight, nothing loose or worn out on it.

Coil springs, Idler arm bushing for control arm, Versailles spindles, rotors, new Upper Ball joints, new stock shocks.... The tires are squealing on the pavement.

    Yes
As it was explained to me ..when you hit a bump the wheels will either toe-in or toe-out...that is bumpsteer, mine is doing that but not returning to the center position fast enough and causing the tires to squeal...I was told the reason being my control arms are at too much of an angle..the car does sit high and has a very stiff front suspension.

Still waiting on advice guys...I don't wanna drive the car squealing every bump I hit, what do ya think? Lower the front with coil spring clamps? all the squealing makes me cringe cuz I know my tires are getting worn faster...BTW I love the disc brakes up front wow big difference!

Can you post a pic of your car so we can see the stance? What part number were the springs? Did you use quality parts or cheap AutoZone Parts?

Can't be the tires...unless they are really old and hard as a rock.
Take some pictures of how your car is sitting, and let us see.
How could the control arms be at too much of an angle? Did you do the Shelby drop?

I hope you didn't pay the alignment shop, they should have told you something was up...What springs are in there?

The alignment shop tech warned me about the bumpsteer...those springs are from the V8 Maverick I have.
I guess I will bring it back down tomorrow with clamps and see if that helps.
But hey it is a good Gasser setup!

WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY to high in the front. I mean WAAAAYYY too high. :D

I would start by cutting off a coil and re-install.

Ok clamped it brought it down about 2 inches, now it needs realignment but I can't drive it to the shop, my tires are like this......\ ---- /...... and there is no way I can drive it riding on the outside of them like that, will get a tow truck to take it in monday morning.
