I would like to put together a mini meet. I know Colby Cruise is Washingtons. But we need a full on Mav/Comet car show. Just our cars. Centerally located for everybody. I'm thinking all cars from Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana, would be welcome and possibly any Canadians and other outta staters that wanna make the long drive. I know I will never be able to go to a actual MCCI meet, unless it was in this area. So that got me thinking, how many of us NW guys would like to actually start a NW all mav/comet show. So, I ask? Where do you NW guys feel is centrally located for the mass of us to attend a all mav/comet gathering?

I admire your desire to get a group of just Mavericks and Comets together for a meet but fear that the turnout would not be that great and a centrally located meeting place would be hard for everyone to agree upon.

As you know the bulk of members in the NW is really in the Seattle area, as one of the few Oregon members I have traveled to various meets in Washington and even to Canada for a meet and have considered going down to Knotts Berry Farm for the Ford event there. Perhaps someday I will make it to one of the shows to the east of us.

Coop has a nice mini meet show at XXX Root Beer in Issaquah that is held in conjunction with the Cougar Clubs show and is the closest thing to a Maverick/Comet show.

2 main factors are involved in attending a show anywhere, time and money. We arent rich or we wouldnt be driving Mavericks and Comets :)
and the time you are travelling to an event cost you gas, motel, food and hopefully not but always a possibility towing/breakdown expenses.

With all this being said I am always willing to try something new for the sake of our cars and would be willing to give it a shot and am willing to say perhaps an area around the tri cities (Richland,Pasco,Kennewick) might be a good location. Just a thought.

I'd love to participate in something like this.....

That being said I have to echo some of what yellow75 metioned. I'm not sure I have alot of confidence in mine and know it would take a year or so before I'd want to trust it to go cross country.

I would be willing to make a day trip up to Washington, or maybe south aways....just worry about getting too far from home. (Although when we did break down, we'd be in good company to get em running again...lol)

Let's keep the idea alive, I would love to be a part of it.

I like your idea of the Tri-cities Mike. Central for almost everybody. I could trailer that far and still be close enough if I had troubles. We'll need somebody in that neck of the woods to find a suitable location. I'm not trying to get this done this year, but maybe next year. I need to get my local guys committed.

Good weather in this neck of the woods too (excluding this spring).

There are several great locations in the area. Top on the list would be Columbia Park in Kennewick,Flat Top Park in West Richland, Howard Amon in Richland or the Benton County Fairgrounds. Biggest issue will be attendance. It takes money to have it at these parks and with small attendance numbers the registration fee would be too high. It would take some digging but another option would be to hit up a business with a large parking lot.

It might be best to piggy back on the Mustang show the first time to see how many will show up. Who knows, maybe by the time this all comes together my car may be ready for the outing!

I am definitely interested. Hopefully by next year i'll have the money to make a few trips here and there so i can actually get to shows. If i have the whole year to work, i'll also hopefully have my interior all redone, and have my car up to par with where i want it to be.
I agree with the rest in saying the turn out would be a scare and not sure how well we could do or whether or not it would be worth the effort and money we put into it.
I think we could have a Maverick club based and run show, but maybe invite a few other cars, such as mustangs and cars of the such. Not so they can steal our thunder but so we can have a bigger turnout and have a better attendance.
If we're not getting a big turn out i almost think it'd be better to just go to a parking lot somewhere and all get together and maybe cruise a little, that way everyone can see the cars, and we're not out of money setting up the whole show if no one shows up.

Thats just my thoughts on the idea, But i am definitely interested. Keep us posted!

Not to boast my own back yard, but in september there is a huge A&W cruise night here in Payette, Idaho. Always in attendance is atleast 2 mavs and 1 lowly comet(mine). I love the idea on the Tri-cities and piggy backing the mustangs, I love making a mustang look bad. RMiller, can you talk with some of the mustang guys up there and see if we can join them next yr? I just want to get us all together for the love of the car, nothing more and maybe swap some stories and parts.

I'll see what I can do, shouldn't be too difficult. It's an early show, not sure of the actual date but here's a blip on the local news site.

Another option would be one that happens in August. This one is more informal and all the proceeds go to the local food bank. Entrance fee this year is $15 or $25, at 15 you get one raffle ticket and two for 25. This one I help with and it would be real easy to get us into.

We held the Show and Shine for Hunger today and the turn out was down but still good. There were 188 cars and not one Mav or Comet. If we chose this event for a mini gathering there are no classes so we could not add a class for our cars. They have 3 trophies the give out and only participants can vote. Here are a few pics from today.

Very healthy sounding 63 1/2, I love these cars!
