one of my neibors approached me who i have never met and asked what I was working on from the street I told him a maverick. He proceded in my garage to show him. He said oh mavericks i remember them. He worked at a performance shop in his past and reminised about hot rods. Anyway he was looking at my setup saw I had a 302 with a 4barrel and asked if i had matching heads? I said i took off 2barrel intake manifold and put on a 4bbl and basically coverted to a 4 barrel. He said wow thats not good you slowly killing your motor with 2v heads. he said that i need 4v heads to be running that setup how much of this is tru?????

    None.

Except that you ARE slowly killing your engine. But no more than you would by running ANY engine. Over time, it will wear out and die.

Your engine will be just fine the way it is.

Hold on a sec. I now recall that if you mix and match 4bbl and 2bbl intakes and heads, it will offset the balance on the flux capacitor, and cause you to lose headlight fluid on the driver's side. So, YES, it could be dangerous...:outtahere:

But, good thing you asked before assuming he was right.

Now fill up the gas tank and go enjoy your newly found horsepower(y)

It'll be fine, but you have to be sure to install 4 barrel muffler bearings at the same time. The 2 barrel muffler bearings will spin too fast with all that extra air, and they'll wear out really fast.

You'll hear all kinds of advice and storys,(Mavericks with factory 302 bosses, factory police packages, 11 second 1/4 mile from factory,) usally somebody knew somebody that went to school witha guy.... just take um with a grain of salt, i once had a guy tell me not to downshift because that was just 1 more upshift your tranny would never make before it wore out... da, why not skip 2nd very time and it would last 1/3 longer!

In my case I have a 4.6l with 4v heads......I am running carb but it never came factory like that....OH **** it might explode my ass right out into outer space...... of course my 4v means 4 valves per cylinder in your case 4v means4 venturi as in a 4 barrel carb vs a 2v or 2 barrel carb.....

    keep up with the jargon..........

I always wondered why they used a "v" for "barrel". You learn something new everyday!

    4 barrel

There was no 2 or 4 barrel heads for 302s. That was a 351C thing only. You hear it about 351Ws to. It was the pistons that are different. Even the 429 2 barrel engine had the same heads and comp, 10.5-1. The more carb with the 4 barrel made the more HP due to breathing.

That statement clears up why he is no longer at the performance shop!

Oh yeah, that's right...trying to get another thread off topic! Nobody said anything about radiators here. If you need info about radiators please use the search feature above. This thread is all about stupid neighbors, flux capacitors, and muffler bearings so lets please try to stay on topic!!! :bouncy:
