Is it true Canadian colors are slightly diferent than the American equivelent? My car is a Canadian built Grabber Green 1972. I bought the car in Canada and the original owner told me if I ever need to touch it up, to make sure to specify "Canadian" Grabber Green. He said he had a door painted after a shopping buggy hit the car in a parking lot and it didn't match. The body shop told him PPG sent them the American version of this color, so that's why it didn't match. They suposedly re-ordered the Canadian version and it matched perfectly. Is there actually two different shades, or was the body shop simply making excuses for a poor color match?

Its a phenomenon called "freezingmynutsoff". Colors change hue the closer you get to the North Pole.

If the car is "freezingmynutsoff" green it should still match pretty close here in Michigan, because summer has simply refused to come this year. We're in the middle of June and yesterday was a high of only 65 degrees. What's the deal!!! I'm also sure glad they didn't paint the car with "water colors" considering all the darn rain we've had.:(

Yes Day Dreamer, I did buy the car from Fred in Missisauga last year. It was somewhat of a paperwork hassle getting the car into the states, but it was worth it. This car is CLEAN!!! It's pretty quick as well. Fred had it running low 12's when he had it, and I have since got down to the 11.80s with just minor treaks and adjustments. I plan to get a set of slicks this year and hopefully get it down a little quicker yet.

    Spare parts?

Thanks Day Dreamer. You're right, it is one hell of a car. Every time I crawl under it, lift the carpet, look get under the dash, etc. I find even more intricate detail work that Fred did. It's very obvious this car was restored by someone who truly loved it, versus someone just doing a quick make-over to turn a buck.

You mentioned buying spare parts. Do you mind if I ask what you bought? My car has a fiberglass hood, and it fits very good actually, but I really wanted to have the original. Did you end up with that?

PS: I went to my first car show of the summer today, and I took 1st place! Sure there was only seven cars there, but what the hey, I beat the other six, right. :bananaman

I'm sure he mistyped. It should be: totallyquackers@sympatico.ca
-with a period (instead of a comma) between "sympatico" and "ca".

    -A

I'm not too sure about your 72 grabber green color. I guess there could be a Canadian color difference but I was only aware of Grabber green being put on cars in 1970 and 1971, both years being an actual different color but both were color code Z. It's possible that's where the mixup was, between the 70 and 71 color. I have a 71 Grabber green car and it is a high metallic color. In 1970 it was a lighter green with no metallic whatsoever. I can't find any record of Grabber green in 1972. I hope this helps. Ray
