came home and decided to see if it starts, turned the key and got a grinding sound, i was JUST running the car and now it wont turn over???? starters about 6 months old:16suspect
Loose/dirty connections, battery cable, starter cable, block grounding cable, intermittant solenoid relay or starter or battery cell... The list goes on and on.
it sounds like the starter it grinding on the flywheel either the starter is loose or messed up or you have some teeth missing on the flywheel in that spot on my friends chevy truck it would grind and turn the motor over so we put spacers on it and it fixed the whole problem ??
My car had the same problem, check the starter, make sure the bolts are in there real tight like, my bolt broke off and fell off during a drive and well... that was not fun. I would also check the flywheel and hope to whatever god you may or may not belive in that the flywheel is alright but all in all... Good luck
nothing was wrong? what the???? wiggled a couple wires, went to go turn it over and it started right up?????
That would fall under the "loose", not necessarily the "dirty". Or maybe your car was feeling lonely or mistreated, and just wanted to be touched by you... edit--DOH! JesTer beat me to it!!!
^Yup,just lonley,My car's the same way just rub her headlights and give her a slap on the bumper and it'll all be good.
the first thing my grandpa told me when diagnosing electrical problems is to perform the "wiggle" test, grab the wires in question and give them a shake.fixed things for me a number of times
Take the wire that you touched and clean the terminals. Then before you put it back on look at the entire length of it for small bulges (which means corrosion) and look closely at the ends for any green corrosion. If you find any signs of corrosion replace the wire before it leaves you stranded on a cold lonely road in the middle of a rain or snow storm. If you can fix it by touching it then it will fail again without notice.
