me and a few friends cleaned my carburetor and the choke stove pipe (or whatever the metal tube from the carb to the manifold is called) was rusted apart but as far as i know as long as i have an electric choke i dont need it, but my problem is when we put the carb back on the car started up first 2 trys no problem then i shut it off to check some things, and it would not start, it will turn over but no starting, after a few trys it will either spit fuel out the top of the carb, or what looks like a little smoke, I havent the first idea what is wrong, we tried manually flipping the choke and it starts but idles very low and rough.....any ideas whats wrong?
Did you mess with the float? If so you need to make sure the float is setup properly. You need to adjust the electric choke as well it should be a little bit open to start with and not fully closed. Also make sure all hoses are connected and if theres a port without a hose plug it, leave the port on the top front of the carb unplugged it is a vent. Did you remove the line and plug the hole on the manifold if not that could be the reason why its running poorly?
