i need some guidence with my vacuum hoses, i have an edelbrock 4bbl carb and i want to know which port my distributor needs to be hooked to passenger or driver side port. i have a duraspark II distributor and a msd street fire ignition, also can i connect my charcoal canister to the middle port on the front or back if possible?

Get under the hood with the engine running, one will have vacuum at idle, the other won't. I don't remember which was which. Maybe the upper one had no vacuum?

Anyway, that one goes to the distributor advance. You want no vacuum at idle, and then vacuum kicks in at 2500 or so rpms.

BUT!!! I had a setup that ran better on the other one with full time vacuum, but it kept the advance on all the time.

I agree with scooper about the vacuum lines.
The charcoal cannister normally connects to the underside of the air cleaner, I am not sure what will happen if you connect it to the port you are talking about.

I would think if you hooked the charcoal canister to a vacuum port, it would create a "vacuum leak" situation with your carb. Just run it into the air cleaner.
