At work yesterday, loading stuff in my trunk to go home. Put everything in including my keys . Having no extras, called a locksmith, he couldn't get in; no charge. Got a ride home, got my tools, removed my backseat back cushion and had to somewhat damage my customized seat supporter to reach in with a hanger and retrieve my keys. Needless to say, I'm gonna make extras and find a good hiding place under the hood. Sheeesh! what a pain in the butt that was.
i left my keys to the back of the trailer at home when i went to the roundup. my wife brought them to me. plane ticket to louisville, ky and rental car to owensboro. now that was expensive delivery but worth it.
That sucks. My '74 Grabber had a buzzer for when you opened the doors and the keys were still in the ignition. I alway thought it was as annoying as hell, but realized after I started driving my '72 that it saved me alot of times from locking mine in the car. My '72 either dosen't have the buzzer, or it dosen't work. I've looked them in that car several times. Now I have a spare key hidden where no one would ever guess... I have also perfected picking the lock with a small screw driver and ground down file.
I have one of those magnet key holder that you can hide under the car...dont know why i need it since these cars are so easy to open with basic hand tools.
Did the same thing last year...left my trunk open while I set up and put my keys in my jacket(was cool out) and when it warmed up the jacket ended up in the trunk. At the end of the show..no keys Took a few for me to figure out what I hoped might have happened. Took out the rear seat but my subs and amps were in the way. I took a coat hanger bent it so it would fit around the sub box and somehow managed to not only hook my jacket...but to move it to where I could reach it. No easy feat concidering I take one of everything known to man with me when I travel..and its all in the trunk!
Sounds like even a spare set of keys at home would have helped you quite a bit. I have slim-jimmed my Maverick in under 10 seconds.
I locked my keys in my car so many times through the years that I am now able to use the oil dipstick to unlock the door. No Joke. I now carry a spare in my wallet. Preston
Remote keyless entry is the way to go. You'll never lock your keys ion the car once you train yourself to lock the car with the fob.
