    Hey folks,
Seen the pics of the boss 302 valve cover. Now I have a huge dilema. My car was due a V8 swap. It has a 170 currently. My wife said she had great news to save me lots of money. She took one of my sharpie markers and wrote "Boss 170" on the factory valve cover. She swears that now it is good for at least 275hp and says I should leave it stock now. Kinda takes the fun out of it all I guess. Any suggestions on what should be done would be great. Thanks!!:rofl2:

classicinlines.com sells some pretty cool dress up and performance parts for inlines. i wouldnt spend too much tho, it'll take alot of money to make a 170 as powerful as a stock 302

Extend the nose of the car, screw two 170s together inline and then you'd have a Boss 340.

I want to post this disclaimer before I say anything else. While my wife doesn't understand my Maverick obssesion she is about as understanding as I would expect a woman to be and she has mostly never denied me that I could buy something for one of my cars "IF" I really wanted it.

Now that is over. The real point I was going to make is, I'll tell you the same thing I told the guy in my office that now owns a Camaro that had he listen to his wife he would not now own.

"SOMETIMES IT IS EASIER TO BEG FORGIVENESS THAN TO GET PERMISSION"

His wife was madder than a hornet at him. but he got the car and now she is over it. I am sure he had to sweet talk her for a few weeks and prolly had to vaccuum a few floors but.......

I guess I am lucky. The wife and I understand each other's needs and generally support each others wants, and we both with let the other know if it is something that is just rediculous mostly without getting our feelings hurt. BUT there has been an occassion or two where the begging forgivness method came in handy.

    Let me explain......
My wife is very supportive of my love for cars. She is the first to get dirty and help as much as I ask her to. The first thread was basically a reference to how stupid the non boss valve cover that said " Boss 302" was in my opinion. That just leaves an open door for people who know nothing about ford engines to now know even less. So as a joke writing "Boss 170" on the valve cover now somehow gives the stock motor super power that cannot be matched. I was pleased with the idea of putting two together for the inline 12 of a Boss 340. Who could touch me then? I have already rounded up the extra fenders for the stretch to look factory. Hold on.......THAT WAS A JOKE:rofl2:

Oh, by the way, I did go ahead and slap her on the bottom!!!!
