Those taillights aren't really that special...

The work getting the panel straight and ready for the lights are however.

Looks different, not sure how i feel on the look of it tho.

As for the the other lights your talkinga bout, its been done I think several times

On the Montego lights: It's been done, but you have to relocate the fuel filler. The rear panel is not wide enough to get the 3 light set in beside the filler.

On Torino lights: Which ones are you thinking of using? I have seen just about every type done (70-71), and probably have pics saved. I collect pics of mods like this... (I just saved your pic to the folder) The GT Torino lights also interfere with the gas cap. I have even seen Torino Cobra lights installed upside-down! Looked really goofy. When they are installed rightside-up, they don't look right IMO because the angle of the outside doesn't match the angle of our tail panels. However lots of folks like them on Mavs.

Just some thoughts and opinions... your's may vary. ;)

    No.
The best lights back there seem to be Comet ones. They give the pod look and are perfectly proportioned unlike the Mav ones which are too short (thats why Bobcats are so popular). Torino lights mean filling the tank from inside the trunk.

What about 4 Galaxie lights? Not the round 61 ones but the square 66 ones. Or maybe even 60s Impala lights?

I think it would look better if there were just two on each side, and they were mounted vertically instead.

I think the stock Comet lights are the best looking there are for our cars. Just wish it was easier to put them on a Maverick.
