chromed hardend lifter rails. I saw in HotRod that someone used this method ona early hemi. Has any one tried this for our six's? the heads on the hemi and on the six's look a lot alike soo... Just a thought.

I woudln't call them a like at all, the ford six has inline valves, with a side mounted plug

A hemisperical head is much different.

But any who you don't need a fancy shaft, the stock one is more than adequate, since most of these 6cylinders stop making power at 4K.

Rocker shaft the same thing? Ford FE (352/390/428) engines use them too.

So do the the old Y block T'bird 312s' and the like, as well as the mopar LA series engines (small blocks)...You dont need hardened rocker shafts unless you are running huge spring pressures and winding it past 6 grand...

On 312Y Blocks you need all the help you can get to make any HP over 400. Here is a set we had made..............another lifetime ago. The motor we put together made 438HP at 6300rpm.
If you want to build a 6 to go like stink.................this would be the way to go.............although it may be a little expensive.

312s' had some problems...Oiling issues aside...LOL...That almost looks like an old mopar W-2 rocker setup...

No, those were made by a very, very talented guy up in Anderson, CA just our Bonny Y block, now he makes them for any Y Blocks. Not cheap at about $600 for both heads(we paid a lot more for the first prototype), but well worth the price. He also does a lot of Hemi stuff also. I tried to get him to make me some shaft rockers for the Maverick, but they would have cost me more than Jesel and Crower combined...............maybe next time.

    yeah

I was just thinking with hardend shafts, adjustable push rods, the right cam and springs, along with the right intake you could really push the limits of the heads. I was thiking like forced air? I guess after all that the only weak link would be the rocker arms themselves. Does anyone know how to sand cast? I mite be able to get the titanium : )

The 6 cyl rocker shaft is already hearden. The early 60-64 adjustable rocker shaft will bolt-on the 65-83 6 cyl head. You will need the correct length and style pushrod to complete the swap
