What is the best place to buy a clutch kit for a 1971 Maverick I6 200.
I am not raceing it around. I want good parts without getting ripped off.

    Thanks

You get what you pay for. I bought a cheap AutoZone clutch kit to replace the one in my 85 Ranger 4X4. It lasted 28 days before the pressure pate came unglued. My son bought a cheap clutch kit for his '96 Saturn and it lasted 3 months before the clutch disc shattered. The best clutch I ever had was the one I bought from my local Ford Dealer. The 20 year old clutch was still in great when I replaced it when I replaced the flywheel but I replaced it while I had things apart with a Ram Clutch.

If this is for a manual transmission you have many choices. Most clutches and pressure plates for the small sixes are made to last a few years when driven and maintained properly. Most performance clutches are not made to withstand the use of street cars. Talk to a local clutch and brake reliner and see what they have to suit your needs. You are more likely to get what you need from a good rebuilder than from a parts store that sells "off the shelf" products.
