I was in Pep Boys today and saw a floor shift conversion kit for auto trans column shift cars. Says it works with most american models. Anyone ever use one of these or something similar? I have a 69.5 Mav with the 3 spd auto. It looks like a pretty easy switch but I've made that mistake before!

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
It's probably a rachet shifter. Most guys with automatics run them.

might i suggest...when installing a floor shifter, be sure to lock the...shift levers... on the end of the steering column in...park...when you unhook the stock shift lever.
this will prevent them from moving and not being able to start the car.
also...for the in column keys...it stops it from locking the steering wheel while driving...(ask me how i know)...i've had both happen to me...:yup:

does this shifter have a...neutral safty switch? if not you can get one for it...

I'm interested in learning more about this. Seen Frank post about it in several threads, but can't seems to find one where it's discussed in depth.
Would like to be alil more confident on this as I hold my B&M shifter in hand and stare longingly at my ride...
The shifter instructions hint at this, but only hint.

I'll keep searching. But any links would be suuuuper! :tiphat:
I'll post useful links to this thread as I find them too

Found this in a "wanted" ad, of all places. Post #10 is pretty useful. Think it answers the question.. But please chime in if you have something to add!

One guy had a good idea. Looks like bolting a bent piece of metal to the collar and attaching that to one of the master cylinder bolts would work.

Don't know if this helps with the "in column keys" but its a start (y)
