Hello Ladies&Gentlemen! I'm from Finland (Europe). I've Mercury Comet 4D with .030 overbored 302 + C4+ 8". It's not beaty... but will be on the road in next summer! I have had it in my garage over six years! Here you can find some pics: http://public.fotki.com/MercComet/cars/my_garage/ I have count that we have about 12-18pcs '70-'76 Mavs and Comets in Finland. I try to hunt pics all of them (now have pics about 10pcs). Nice to be here! - FinnComet -
Welcome to the board. Good to have you here. I never would have guessed that there were so many Mavericks and Comets in Finland. It's nice to know they were so popular all over the planet.:bananaman :bananaman
Thank's everybody! You seems to have some questions in mind... We have great US-car culture here in Finland (check out my pics from meetings, friday cruisings, racing, etc.). You might be suprise! I have told that official local-Ford dealer was imported only 3-5 Mavs to Finland in early '70's. None Comets! Allmost rest of them have come from USA by private persons, who have been worked there during 70's. My Comet came Finland with lady doctor in -73. It was including bucket seats, rear window heater, vinylroof, powerbreaks(!) with drums and powersteering. Mavs & Comets are quite rare in Finland (mustangs, camaros, firebirds, etc. we have hundreds... ) Couple of Mavs change owner in every year. Allmost all '70-models have changed 289/302 V8 and only couple are with original 6-engine. Part of cars are Drag/Street Racing-cars (some with etc. blowers and 351c/351w and many with 289/302). They would be more popular if you could find them from here. Shipping cost about 2000$ + car price + etc. from USA. Bodypars is biggest problem to find...Fibreglass parts can find if somebody fabricate them. I have to start check old threads... See ya soon!
Barry; I think some of them are old embassy cars, that the government sold rather than ship them back over here. And, as Finn said, they do have dealers over there. Finn, glad to have you here!
