Okay, it's gonna be a few more weeks before I am ready to drop the new engine in, and I can't wait that long, so I would like to know if anyone can tell me what the idle/sound is like with a Comp 268H cam in a 302. I'd also like to know how it runs performance-wise. Anyone have this cam in their 302?...

Sounds stock runs worse (Just my opinion) . Go with a small split pattern instead.

Runs worse than stock? I highly doubt that. I also know that although a dual-pattern cam produces maximum power, a single pattern cam provides a wider power band. It's already installed in the new engine. I ain't takin' it back out.

    Anyone else?...

The clip was taken with a camera and sound quality is not great.
The lope is accurately portrayed when it comes to beat, but it is not quite as prominent as the clip makes it sound.
Don't get me wrong, you can definately hear it, but the clip just seems to put it more 'in your face' than real life.
Then again it could be the settings of my cheap azz computer speakers...

What about the 270 Magnum, anyone have one of those in their 302. Just curious. I'm stuck with this 268 for awhile, but it's gotta be better than the stock .360/.380 lift of the stock cam...

I had the 268 in my 302. Was a good all around cam. Had more torque than stock, Made for better power and got better milage than stock. Had a slight lope..nothing radical but it was noticable. Car ran a best of 13.77 with this cam. Changed to a 284 enerizer cam after a few years(512lift). Lost torque, made more HP, got worse milage and ran slower(14.30's)..but it sounded pretty cool! I am using the 274 extreme energy in my current engine...love this cam! Makes super torque, good topend and sounds awesome. Car runs low 12's, and is very reliable(drove 2500+miles RT last summer to attend the Knotts Berry farm Ford show...and am planning on doing it again this year)

i was thinking about the 268... but reading what you wrote.. maybe the 274 is what i am wanting for my setup..

can you read off your specs on the engine for me.. so i can see waht you have that i dont.. primarily.. what heads, intake, carb, gears, are you running

    thanks

Im putting an XE 274 HR in my 331. Should have it from the dyno in 2 weeks, hopefully. Its "supposed" to be a really good street/strip cam. Im anxious myself.
    Will post results.

That 268 in your does sound real nice.
