So, daughter has a friend in from out of state. They wanted to go to the drag strip. None of the kids have ever been, so, off we go. 2 - 18yo girls, a 14yo boy, and Mom. Started slow, as it was 103 today, not many cars at first. Then, more came., and they got excited. Here's roughly what went on: Daughter - hey, there's no mavericks here! Me - patience, there's usually a couple D - will my maverick go as fast as that car Me-no D - do you know how to make the tires smoke like that? Me - no D - after we get the motor back in, can I bring it here? Me - no D - is all the motor stuff and things you bought going to make the front jump up like that car? Me - hardly D - if I make the tires do that, can I get a ticket? Me - yes, and even more when you get home D - if Dad had brought us, he would let me try this Me - probably, good thing he's in NY right now, huh? D - hey that stupid chevy truck only went 68mph! I went faster than that in our truck today (keep talking, honey) After a punch from her friend, she said, or maybe not. Hey, we could beat him with all four of us in our truck. Wouldn't he feel silly when a big red 4door ford full of people beat him? All he would see is our Farm Tags. Me - thinking - maybe this wasn't such a good idea!! And a good time was had by all. Rhonda
It was good to see you again, hope everyone had fun! Did you see the motorcycle go 4.80 @ 140.00 mph? The roadster with the big wing on the back that never made a full pass was Gaylen Smith, that wasn't the car I thought he was bringing, he has a Pro Mod Cuda that runs 3.80's, over 200 mph! The car he brought was new, that was the first time out, he has SEVERAL cars. Come back out when it's cooler, and faster cars will be out.
Ya I can picture a bright pink maverick showin the boys what too do, Gainesville is right up the street.. I have 14 years to build it.....
