Basically I think the name of the Stabber, the side pipes and all the little details make for a rad little car.

Is there much controversy involved in cloning?

Also, I should probably go as much stock as possible if I am going to try and clone a Stabber eh?(let me know)

I would love some feedback, as I had just recently painted the engine bay and engine black, and fear I will have to go back and repaint to match stock colours if I do decide to clone a Stabber.

(The orginal idea was to paint the car a gloss black and find a way to get my hands on lime green stripes/decals and trim for the interior and engine bay)

Would appreciate some input as I am getting ready for the paint job and I am freaking out for what I want to do.
    Cheers

Do what you want, it's your car. It's not a real issue cloning a Stabber, they were a dealer item, no one really worries about cloning anything with these cars.

The only problem with clones is when someone tries to pass it off as an original. If you don't do that it's just gravy.

And clones are some of my favorites. Because you can drive it all you want and not have to worry about destroying an expensive car.

Other clone options are the Bearcat and the Europa 250. The Bearcat is similar to the stabber.

Yeah I think I am going to go with the Stabber, along with black and green still. It will be an obvious clone this way, but I think itll be wicked. Thanks guys.

Do you have a real 1974 Comet GT. Pretty rare car I would say. If you just have a regular Comet....clone it to anything you want.

While you are waiting think of a couple things. What is an original 74 Comet GT really worth? Do you enjoy looking at that big (maverick) bumper on the front of your car? I don't know what kind of shape it is in but you could spend a few thousand (on the cheap side) to make it nice and original again and what is it going to bring? I venture to say that you wouldn't get that money back out of it. Now if you clone it a stabber and go the small bumper route, do a nice job, clone of a stabber or just a clean small bumper comet GT I believe you would bring more of a return on your investment. Lets face it even Grabbers are not going to bring big money original or not, these were throw away economy cars. One nice thing about the comet GT, from what I have seen is that at least they were all 302/bucket seat cars, maybe not true but this has been my experience. You can spend alot on any car but it is boubtful that you will ever get your money back. So make it the way it makes you happy and don't worry about ruining a glorified economy car.

I say go for it, I'd think a Stabber clone would be worth more than a REAL Comet GT or Grabber car anyway, Has anyone ever seen one?
