There is a hole about 1" diameter in the firewall above the transmission bell housing that is leaking coolant like crazy. It looks like a bung for a house but no hose nearby to attach. This is seperate from the two holes for the heater core houses, it is further under the car.

A little background, I just replaced head gasket and all associated parts. The little coffee can vaccume canister broke where the hose attached. Getting a new one, but not sure if this has anything to do with it. Any help is appreciated.

Does your car have factory A/C? Could be the drain for the evaporator, and your heater core is leaking.

So is coolant comming through the hole into the car when the engine is running? if it is, I think there is a freeze plug on the back of the head, and if so it may have a hole in it.

X2. Sounds like core is gone. Hook heater hoses together and see if your leak goes away. If it does, you have found your problem.

    Is it leaking here?

As mentioned, that is the Heater-A/C box drain. Sounds like a heater core leak.

Is that where it leaks from is it's the heater core? How hard is it to replace that? I might as well replace the fan too, it doesn't seem to turn on any more.

I might bypass it for now, how do I do that? And is that ok? Then I can learn more how to do the job and so it this fall.

That is the drain for the A/C evaporator, since the heater core is in the same box, it'll run down inside the heater box, and out the drain.

This is what I did for now. I will have to fix it right before winter, since it gets pretty could here, but this worked for now. Thanks everyone.

Check your right side floor for coolant too! Mine also leaked onto the floor when my heater core puked! I haven't fixed mine yet. That's just another of those " really not looking forward to projects " that will be coming up! :D
