    Hi;

    Can someone explain the correct operation of the parking brake on my 73 Comet? I took my car in to obtain a safety certificate for registration and the mechanic indicated on his report that the parking brake does not light the red brake light indicator on the dash when hand lever is pulled .......from what I can determine from looking at the under dash parking brake mechanism there is no provision to light the indicator light....can some one clarify this for me?

    Thanks from A Comet newbie....

    That light is wired to the distrubution block. If you loose pressure in either the front or back, a little piston moves and turns the light on.

    Poor mechanic... maybe never even seen a Comet in his life... go educate him politely. Then do a burnout when you leave AFTER you get your paperwork.

    As far as that Mechanic goes " The light is on, but there's nobody home"
