Has anyone here fixed their spoiler cracks before ? The spoiler I have has a little crack on each end and the paint show wants $300 to repair them. They said that thats the only way to keep the paint from chiping. Has anybody v-ed out the cracks before and mixed up some fiberglass and just filled them. I just don't see $300 there, They want $200 to paint the spoiler and end caps. There is some prep work to be done on them before they can get paint so I'm not thinking thats too high, but then I could be wrong there too. Also I only have 1 of the inner retainers with the nut on it, I thought I saw somewhere that someone had made there own. Anybody know where That was ? Thanks Rick See you guys in a week.
Not hard to fix a crack. Like you said, "V" it out a bit, then use fiberglass mat, not cloth, in the groove. Put resin on first, then mat, then soak the mat real good with more resin. You use fiberglass cloth over the finished repair, then sand it smooth. Might have to us a spoon full of bondo to get it smooth, most of it will be sanded off. There is a bondo made with fiberglass in it, I think it's called dura glass or something like that. It might help the final repair from cracking again. I've never used it, but heard good reports on it. Some have made the hold downs out of small PVC pipe. Just round one end on a belt sander or grinder to match the factory piece.
