Hi, doing a cam change in my 72 302. I will be using a Crane 272H10. Dose anybody know the torque setting for the rocker arm nuts? Also can I torque all the rocker nuts at once or should I adjust them using the firing order?
    Can't wait.

    Thanks
    Tony:drive:

If you are useing stock rockers and or rocker studs...they are positive stop. There is no adjustment.Turn the nuts till they stop and give em a quarter turn to snug the nuts down and your done.Be certain to check piston to valve clearance befor finalizing any valve adjustments.

Someone has a straight answer i'm sure. Back in the midevil days when I installed my Comp cam, there was a 800 #. I called them and they were helpful, I just don't remember what they said. Don't quote me but seems like I recall 18ft lbs with the valves closed. BUT, I also had to have springs shimmed etc. Sorry i'm no help.

I think you're right Gene. Eighteen lbs sounds about right for a fine thread 3/8" stud. If they are the positive stop type that is. And you are correct that they need to have no compression on them (top dead center for that cylinder, or both valves closed). The only other thing you might need to check is the pushrod length on the outside chance that the cam was ground with a different base circle. Probably not an issue, but a good idea to check none the less.
