March is a very fickle month. Yesterday it was in the mid fifties here. Today it is snowing like mad. We are supposed to get somewhere between 5-9 inches of snow before it all ends. I guess we should all be thankful it doesn't end up looking like this when it's over........

MavMonster, we got 6" of that same snowstorm in Omaha that whomped you guys in Iowa. This has been one crazy year of snow. We have had something like four-feet of snow this winter. It sure hasn't helped out my progress on the mav since almost every snow has been on Sun/Mon which are my days off. Go figure. But hey Spring is around the corner.:D

I don't have a picture that I can put on here, I will tell you it was my first car I got in Oct. 1970 when I was 14. I bought it with my own money from mowing yards at 5.00 a yard, I actualy made the down payment and Dad helped with the rest and I paid him back ( missed a few payments but finally got it paid off). It is black & white and as far as I know never been hit. It has been on the road off and on about 4 times since since I bought it. Right now it is undergoing a mini restoration, I put a 1969 351w bored 30 over, never been cranked yet, c4 and an 8 inrearend out of a monarck, all new ball joints, tie rod, A frame bushings ,front and back springs and shocks,3 in. lowering blocks in the back and a 2 in lowering kit in the front from Butches Rod shop. So far everthing has been bolt on and I have kept all the org. parts in case I ever go back org. In 1977 my wife had never had a car so I bought a 1969 GTO judge that I let her think was her first car, In april 20,1992 we bought the 72 Grabber for my daughter's first car, She wanted a new truck to go to college in 95 so I got the Mav. back, so I still have all our first cars:clap:

This will probibly get moved to the Off Topic section, but anyway.

I have a 1955 Oldsmobile 2 door Hardtop. I purchased it for $1200 in Nov 1983 when I was 18. I did sort of the same thing as you, I borrowed the money from my mom and then paid her back.

It is 100% original right down to the hubcaps. When I got it it had 67000 original miles on it, It sits now with only 71000.

    in its hay-day:

I never gave it a name, although all my friends at the time called it Christine, because it reminded them of the car in the movie (came out around that time). My wife calls it that "old piece of junk in the garage" LOL

I look at it this way,.... yes it is not running right now, but when I do get her going, all the people who bashed me throughout the years about how I should "sell the old piece of crap" won't be getting a ride. They can walk in the parades.
