Hi all i was wondering where did all the mavericks go? I've been looking locally to find one i can't find one to be had. Nothing in junkyards either. There are nice ones here for sale i just can't afford shipping, i'm looking for a clean fixxer/upper. I've always love mavs, kick myself now for not snapping up a car when i could. I just figured they'd be around i never figured they would get scarse. Well i'm on a mission now so wish me luck. Thanks Dennis:p

its hard to find older cars in michigan because they rust like crazy. try looking on ebay. i moved to colorado from michigan a few years ago and i was shocked to see the condition cars are in here. i havent seen a car with rust since i got here.

It must be nice. lol Besides the rust it seems like the junk yards are more interested crushing every car instead of parting it out. i'm keeping my eyes open for the right car i just don't like the shipping cost. thanks Dennis

be patient... mavs are like women. when the right one comes along, you'll know it. don't rush. i was minding my own business when one day i saw a guy here in this very website looking to dump his 1970. he had to lose it in a big way. long story short, i picked it up (locally thank goodness) for a hundred bucks.. drove it home! it will happen to you too if you are patient. good luck

    Hi there!
I live in Michigan, too(Sterling Heights, just north of Detroit) and I have notice the same thing...I got my first Maverick in 1988 and since then , even the junkyards don't have them anymore...
I bought my current project Mav(a '72 Grabber, 302, A/C,P/S) in Alabama in September of 2000, and I found out about it thru a link on this website!

Click here for Mavericks for sale

If you want one, your best bet might just be to use the Internet and find a low-rust one somewhere in the south. I think it is worth the effort. My '77 is probably going to become a parts car because the rust has just about destroyed the frame. It is so much nicer to take a 30 year old car apart and the nuts and bolt actually come apart because there is nearly no rust!
Some advice...particularily on the earlier Mavs and Comets (pre -75 I believe) you will want to pay close attention to the cowl vents directly in front of the windshield...even in solid nearly rust free cars these can rust out inside and it requires a lot of work to repair it right. Later Mavs used galvanized steel in the cowls and were not really a problem...in fact, my '77 might have rust all over the place, but the inner cowl is fine!

    Good luck!

I think it's more like this....... Mavericks/Comets are like women and jobs, they're easy to find when you have one!

I dont think their like women at all. All the women in my life are long gone but the Maverick remains faithfull.

I've had people tell me I should get out more not work on the car so much and find a woman, every time i've tried that they've always screwed me over. At least the Mav don't complain :). I was with a woman for an entire year in 2000 I thought she was the one I was gonna marry cause we were even talking about where to have the wedding at, and then like that *poof* it ended, I really did love her and it was hard for awhile I still think about her from time to time to this day one of the reasons I bought this car is so I would have a project to help take my mind off of her and it worked I don't think about her as much anymore like Mavaholic said The Mav is faithful, mine is. Women leave ya cars are forever... I wish she could see me now though one of the reasons we broke up was because she lived over 100 miles away and I didn't have my own car at the time to see her often,, well I do now!!! once I get it up and going at least :).
