Hello, This may be a tall order, but if someone could help I would be greatful. I have a 1971 Ford Maverick with an inline 6 250. My problem is there are alot of hoses missing, and plugs all over the place with nothing connected to them.

I was wondering if someone could possibly email me some detailed pictures (with the air cleaner off) of all around the engine so I can visually see what connects to what. I am not a mechanic, and it is getting increasingly frustrating to figure out what connects to what. I am tired of going through manuals with crappy 1 inch black and white pictures with even more crappy descriptions!

Also, a picture of exactly where the ignition timing marks are located would be great! I searched for over an hour and I could swear they are not there!

    Thanks! My email is riquilee@hotmail.com

these cars are a "hobby". the fun is trying to "fix" stuff that you have never done. we work together here to... get er' done... these cars are like a great big puzzle and each person here has a piece (info). we share this info. to get one put together. if you are missing a piece (info) to your puzzle then ask. we will help you find it.
try the "search" at the top. try diff. keywords.
these cars will drive you :coco: if you let them. that is why it takes a diff. breed of people to hang onto one :bouncy: ..frank...

I have a '71 too and it didn't have too many vacuum lines. My '76 on the other hand was vacuum line hell. I fixed that problem though now, down to the bare minimum after i removed the A/C Pump, EGR, and temperature switches all over hell. The only vaccum line on your car you really need is to your vacuum advance unit on your distributor. The rest is really just smog crap and messing around with thermostatic switches and air cleaner flaps, etc. I'd just plug them all up and make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks. A lot of the electrical is pretty interesting and I'm still looking into some of mine.

Oh, Oh, Oh....don't forget the vacuum that goes down to the automatic tranny!!!

thanks guys.. I was kind of curious about the hose that goes from the carb to the distributor.. is this important? also the one that goes from below the carb to the valve cover.. both of these are really nasty. the one that goes to the valve cover looks like it used to have some kind of filter on it that long since died

hehe nice guys... OK, so I finally got the everything hooked up it seems. maybe someone can help me with this scenario. I went and got a new exhaust pipe all the way back to the manifold. The car drove fine all the way home, then right as I was pulling into my parking lot, the car died. I adjusted the carb a little till it idled, but now when it idles, it revs up, then it slows down to almost shut off.. like VROOOOMMMmmmmmm.....VROOMMMMMmmmmm....... as if I were stepping on the gas, letting go, stepping on the gas, letting go etc.

any ideas? Someone who heard it said it may be the timing

Could that be the vacuum advance screwing up?
