I put 7.4 gal of diesel in my gas tank by accident, I drained at least 14.6 gal out of it as soon as I noticed what I had done the tank holds 16 gal. according to the Chiltons manual. It was put in the grabber 75. (302) I then put new premium gas in it and drove about 10 miles and it ran o.k. Is there anything else I should do. Thanks
Back in the late 50's and early 60's when just about all big V-8 engines had 10 to 1 or better compression ratios, my dad had driven his '56 Oldsmodbile with it's "Rocket" engine about 100 miles. The young gas attendant filled jim up with diesel, by accident of course. Dad drove another 200 miles and parked the car for the night at the motel. He had no idea anything was wrong until the car wouldn't crank the next morning. As long as the engine was hot, it ignited the diesel okay and ran fine. There wasn't enough compression or engine heat for the diesel to start cold. I put mineral spirits in a hot lawnmower as a teenager, once. It ran fine all afternoon. Wouldn't start the next day. It had the cleanest insides of any Briggs engine you've ever seen.
Boy thats some excuse for not showing up in Renton today. We had a great turn out. You should been there.
