ok finally got some brains and decided to put some disk brakes on the firggin car. i just had a chance to start on these babys today.. but ran into a problem with the hub not fiting and seating.. as always bolt on parts don't bolt right on. monday i'm gonna have to try to get right right one.. but here a pic of what it looks like so far.. well mocked up so far.
a better view of the whole thingy... the rotors on backwards on this pic so don't take it to heart... funny thing is the instuctions say to put it on this way... it also the pictures on the instructions show to install the bushing backwards.. kinda tells you something eh?
ok i had to share this... if anyone ever decides to do a big brake upgrade this bracket really makes things easy... not knowing what works and what doesn't i just had them send a few brackets to me it so i could play around. i found out that this bracket it bolts right on to a stock Maverick drum setup (4 bols) so i don't need to change the spindels or tie rods.. that like save me like an hours work! also just needed to find the right size bolts to mount it, which was just a local run to the bolt store! however if you have the granada spindels already on the car.. this bracket will also work! so after i find the right hub to use it should be cake! knock on wood!
Awesome mod, would like to know the part #'s to everything when you finish. I called Earls direct, told them what I had, they made me a set of brake lines and shipped them to me for under $45. That is about $20 cheaper than summit. I'm talking about stainless braided hose. I have their # at home if you want it.
MaverickMan, you must have more money than god! What line of work are you in and how do I get in to it? -if it's not too personal.
MaverickMan, wow when you do a mod, you do a mod!!! That looks great! Please keep us updated, can't wait to hear how it turns out! :bananaman :bananaman
wilwood disks My buddy has those same brakes on his '66 Chevelle that we recently finished. Sure are nice!
You mean this whole time you were driving around with those big ass wheels and a carbon fiber hood, and a shiney engine and you still had stock drum brakes?
actually god is the one that gives me all the money actually i don't have much money at all.. remember i use to drive a 85 marquis every day my wife drives a 91 sentra. but what it is called is not having alot of money... its also called lots of letters, phone calls, e-mails and begging for sponsorship from companies! when you deliver for these companies one time and a second time in magazine print or tv or where ever people besides local shows and friends, companies are willing to help out some what or even fully. Do you really think some of these high dollar cars you see in the magazine people actually buy the stuff? well some do but i'd say most of the high dollar ones.. they are all sponsored! people may laugh at all the stickers these guys put on their imports but i tell you right now some of the high dollar import cars also haven't payed a dime for the stuff they have. if you even notice the HOT ROD TV spot on my white car their are stickers on the window.. trust me.. those guys remember that stuff! want free parts too? write letters, send e-mails, proposals... i can tell you i'ts not very easy! remember a propsal is like a job resume your one of 100s sitting on the desk. however once your in and you always deliver what you promise, you will have it made. i can tell you not in a million years would i beable to afford some of this stuff... hell the car was like $800.00 bucks! knowing the right people helps too as far as what i do and as much as i hate salepeople... i'm a salesman! also have a web thingy i do on the side as well. anyways hope that answers it.
uh... yeah... most people don't even notice i'm missing them with all the other crap on it.... it worked besides wanna hear something even funnier... never changed a disk brake in my life.. i only know how do change drums lol!!! fist time for everything! remember speed first safety last ...lol
Maverick Man I am sure that the disk brakes will a great addition to the car. I read the articles on your car and was amazed that you still had the drums. I have collected the parts to do a swap on my car but I sure like the looks of your setup. Please post the part numbers when you get done. On another note what headers are you running with the Roush 347?
I love it, killer look with the boyd coddington's!!! Your car is one of the most unique I have seen and it keeps getting better!!
