I plan on taking the maverick apart for the first time… This particular maverick has little bits of cancer almost every where except the cowls… water goes in and out… no problem there?… Anyways…. My question is… What Good or Bad Habits should I know about before dismantling the maverick?

The only tips I can give you is to take your time, Be Safe and label everything. Get several different types and sizes of boxes and cans to put things in that go together. This will help when you start putting everything back together.
    Good Luck,
    Tomm

Another thing to consider. If you have a digital camera, take lots of pictures if your'e not sure you will remember how things go back together. When I take cars apart, I will put all the nuts and bolts into a ziplock bag and label what they are and what they came off of. Then they all go into a box for big stuff and coffee cans for small stuff. If it's small stuff, sometimes I tape the bag to the respective part. Keep lots of WD-40 or whatever kind of penatrating oil you choose close by and have lots and lots of rags handy. Take note if nuts and bolts are stripped or too rusted to reuse so you can get replacements if needed. The same can be applied to parts that are removed. If they are worn out, make a list of them for possible replacement. Keep your tools handy so you don't have to waste time running back and forth to the tool box. And most important of all, take your time and rush nothing. Oh, and have a box of band-aids handy. You will probably bust a knuckle or two open on something. It just comes with the job.:)

One more thing I forgot. If you wear rings, take them off. You would not believe how easy it is to get a ring caught on a screw or small bolt and you end up twisting a finger. It has happened to me a number of times, so now they come off when I work on a car.
