If anyone knows Chip personally, maybe you could give him a call and see if he's ok? If you didn't see the post in the auctions section, 2 of his cars are up for auction at Copart. This one was in Modified Mustangs & Fords (this time last year) http://www.copart.com/c2/individualLot.html?lotId=20207591&searchType=onSaleNow Here is his other car, much worse... http://www.copart.com/c2/individualLot.html?lotId=20206671&searchType=onSaleNow It would be nice to know if he's ok, I seem to remember one of them, maybe on Ebay for sale at a collector car dealer...
I would be curious how one could wreck both of your own cars like that? Maybe its storm damage? Both garaged together?
this is very worrying. the way the roof is taken off the blue one it looks like someone needed to be rescued out of the car. i have spoken to chip a couple of times on this board, he was so nice to send me a copy of the magazine his car was on as well as some of his cameoclub newsletters. i really really hope he's ok...
If you look at the Black & Green one, there is quite a bit of fluid on the driver side inner fender, it looks as if the car may have run into a ditch, and slowly rolled..maybe to avoid the other car? The blue one has had some extracation, thanks to the jaws-of-life....
Too many good parts on those for somebody to let the insurance company take them after totalling. Unless they were so upset they never wanted to deal with Mavs/comets again or their hands were tied with the insurance company, or something worse happened. Hope to hear he is ok. Is anybody a member of Cameo or know the guys and want to give the club a call? here is the contact info. sombody there may know what happened. http://www.cameoclub.com/
I gotta tell you I'm a little worried after seeing the cars. I sent him an email to the CAMEO address. I would like to know if everyone is Ok as well.
As well I am wondering what happened and if everyone is ok, I was thinking of bidding on those cars but......I am not going to, I would feel terrible about capitalizing on the unfortunate situation of another Maverick/Comet enthusiast and could not enjoy anything gained from doing so. Yes I guess I do have a heart after all.......not what I have been told in the past.
I am sure he (or whoever owned them) had collector car insurance on those cars. Once they were wrecked, and the insurance company settles with the owner...the insurnace company nows owns the cars. The insurance company can them sell it back to the previous owner, or they can choose to auction them off as you can see on the website.
Here's Chip's response to my email... Hi Jody: Had an accident a day before Memorial Day (Sunday Morning) Got "T-Boned and was pinned in the 75 Comet for awhile. The FD had to cut the roof off and then use the hydraulic "jaws of life" to get my legs out of the crushed cab and door areas. Took awhile but they did a great job. Car was totaled and I broke both legs. At present , I'm in the "rehab" department in Deland , Florida and they're teaching me how to get in and out of bed and into a wheel chair . I'm making great progress and hopefully I'll be out of here and back hope in awheel chair . The Doctor told me 3-1/2 months till I become full "weight bearing" and am able to walk without an aid of some sort. I feel sad that I lost my 75 Comet , but very grateful that I still will be able to walk , and that I'm not crippled , or worse by this accident . GOD was certainly with me on this one and Its just a matter of time before I'm back in the world ..walking o.k. I hope.. Thanks for your inquiry.. I hope everything is going o.k. with you . I'll be in touch .. I'm writing this on my lap top in my room . See ya later ... Chip
Glad to hear he is alright and hopefully will fully recover. What happened to the green one, maybe he didn't even own it when that happened?
I thought his name sounded familure.. I am glad to see that he is ok also. Wish I had an address to send him a card.. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=41087&page=6 #57
