I'm having a hard time aligning the door on my comet. The bottom right seems to stick out a decent amount from the rocker panel. Just can't get it square. Door hinges are nice and tight. Any suggestions.
You can get the door adjusted to where it fits best at the bottom....then gently push/bend the window frame in or out to get it to fit. Worse case scenario you may need to drill out the window frame spot welds and reweld. These are Mavericks....they will never pass the Mercedes-Benz ball bearing test.
I don't remember how good it fit before but I'm guessing close was good enough when it was first built in the factory.
Believe it or not...Ford actually has been pretty picky about panel quality and fit since day one. So is it the bottom corner at the fender or the quarter thats sticking out???
Bottom by the front fender. I've got it close with decent gaps now but if i could get it better they would be awesome.
Did you check and make sure the door edge isn't bent out a bit?? Some times a few light taps with a hammer and a wood block will correct the problem. If you can...Post a pic or two of the fitment issue.
