Ok, this problem has gotten progressively worse with my parts car. The only door that opens on it at all is the rear passenger side. I have the door panels off already and I have tied to manually pull the release rods from inside and nothing happens. I've tried to feel around on the latch, but I can't get it figured out. What am I missing? I really need to be able to open all the doors.
The door latch mechanism needs to be taken out and greased up. There's also some length adjustment on those rods. If I remember right, you may even have to pop one of the rods off and operate it by hand to get the door open so you can remove and adjust the latch. I had this problem twice on my car before I finally took it all apart and got it right. It was really tricky getting to that mechanism with the door closed and I just about destroyed a door panel doing it.
I had a problem with mine too There was a little plastic sleeve on one of the arms that was broken/ gone. As i remember, i got a replacement on a little kit of door parts from Autozone. I got about 10 parts i didn t need then but there was the one that worked.
Ok, so try and remove the rod at the latch and feel around for the release? Good thing my panels are already off.
What!?!? No Dukes of Hazzard references? OK, here goes. Just slide across the hood and crawl in through the window.
Dude...do I have to like spell it out for you? Maybe the Cliff's Notes version? 1) Open rear passenger side door (IF it will still open by the time you read this! ) 2) Crawl into said vehicle. 3) Roll down front door windows. 4) Problem solved!
Aha! But to do that I would have to reinstall the window cranks which have been removed for almost a year.
