When i changed my wheels i widened the stance, using hub adapters, pushing the wheels out 1.5" on each corner. I have adjusted the front end alignment a few times, lots of caster with balanced negative camber. I am very hapy with this setup, but.. i want to stifen up the rear maybe with a added leaf and stiffer shocks, maybe air shocks. I dont want to start another stiffer vs. softer debate, but i do want your opinions and tips on how to make my mav more predictable when sliding. also let me know what has worked for you as far as driving style. thanks for all the help.
put a sway bar on the rear and use polyurithane bushings in the leaf springs and the frame mount for the shackel. these will really stifen up the rear and make it more "slideable". i wouldnt use air shocks, due to the top mounts being in just sheetmetal. i would reinforce the shock mounts and get a good quailty set of adjustable ones like qa1s.
Rear sway bar, stiffer springs and Higher tire pressures will make the car "over-steer" more readily. Real hard tire compound will also help - and make the tires last a bit longer.
