I really like those, but they won't work on a '73, the bumper is too low...

Dave ... I know sometime in the past somebody had showed a grill they modified like you want to do. The cut the emblem off a 70 grill and filled it in with a standard grill and then cut out the round lights .... I can't find the thread though ...

Bingo is right! That car belongs to Part-Time on board (post date 9-20-04), Sam Mangano also did same treatment. This board is so cool.

He made it out of the early center medallion grill (70-72) and a later side directional light grill. Cut the 2 apart and made one grill without any medallion or lights. Then he cut out the round holes for the driving lights. I'm posting this from memeory, so if anybody has anything else on how to make it, jump right in.

If your careful, and have a little talent, it would be a matter of cutting out the medallion center area of the early grill and replacing it with the same section cut out of the later grill. I would not cut through the main supports of the top and bottom part of the grills. Just take out the center sections. A good plastic epoxy will join it all back together again.

I also think if somebody would just try adding the round lights to the early medallion grill, that would look very good too.

That's exactly what I did. Less work and almost the same result. Check out this thread:

Stefan, maybe you could merge the two threads?

    Sam :)
