I just bought a set of Hooker Comp headers, they fit pretty good but I can't get my slave cylinder hooked back up, even with the drop bracket. The instructions say to bend the header tube to make clearence. the catch is, it's so far off, if I were to do this I would have to smash the tube almost closed. Obviously this is not the answer.

Can the slave be droped more with a longer bracket than the one Hooker sells? Has anyone had to do this?

this bracket worked fine with my Super comp headers but those headers don't work with my AOD trans. The comp headers clear the trans better, but not my slave cylinder.....It's always something! LOL

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Shawn

    Some comment.
You have to drop the mounting location quite aways. The farther it is dropped the more leverage is puts on the frame and the mount. The mounting to the frame should have some extra holes drilled and use grade 8 5/16" fine thread bolts and self locking nuts to ensure the bracket stays tight.
You might have to have a bracket made.
    Been there and back again.

    HMmmmm

Well my drop bracket I have now is already welded on, so unless I do some major work it's not going anywhere. I was kind of thinking of extending it, but I wasn't sure what that would do to the steering overall. I don't know if it would be to much of an angle??

Have you done this? How did it work?

    I dropped about 4-1/2".
Made the bracket out of 1/4"stock with a reinforcement back.
Just my opinion but never weld on a part that might have to be taken, off like that.
As you found, you either hae to cut it off and leave part there and not be able to put the stock mount back on or risk weakening the frame and have to plate it up.
