I have a 1970 with manual steering and I am doing a non-standard engine swap and have clearance issues between my starter and the steering linkage.

Did Mavericks ever come with a different linkage set-up? Or, are there differences between the power assist and manual as far as geometry and pittman arm length?

Does anyone know if pittman arms from other ford vehicles will fit the manual box? A couple inch drop and some remorking of the geometry would take care of it?

Or, has anyone completed a manual rack and pinion conversion?

What kind of engine are you trying to put in? That might help.

So your pitman arm is hitting the starter?
The V8 has the starter on the other side of the engine.
No wonder you are having issues.
