So, I'm trying to install this water pump, but it does not line up, specifically with the top bolt circled in red in the image. Box says it's for a 302/351W from 1970-77 and edelbrock says it's the one for my application. What should I do?

    Sorry, it's part number 8843, not 8834

Is it the pump that doesn't line up or just the gasket? In other words if you forget about the gasket does your pump line up with the holes in the timing cover?

I just installed a waterpump on mine, not a edelbrock one, but the gasket had a lot of different bolt patterns on it. I think there is 1 gasket for many different pumps.

What timing cover do you have?

If the bolts for the timing cover and the water pump match, and the inlet and outlet ports have the same orientation, I think you'll be fine.

I just went thru a similar thing where the water pump gasket in a Felpro engine rebuild set was wrong. Had to buy another gasket.

You didn't say where you bought it, but I could have saved you at least $125 on that by suggesting an aluminum pump (that fits) for a late 88 to 91 Crown Vic. $180 ?(Summit's price) Ouch!!!Here's the Vic pump in the pics below:
