I have a jegs house brand cam the same as the edelbrock performer-plus cam,its the hydraulic flat-tappet in a 302,i installed it last year around October, stock hads and springs with pedestal mount rockers,i didn't check to make sure the valves are to tight and needed shims,i assumed this mild rv cam would be ok no wi seem to have some valve train noise on the passenger side, today i pulled every rocker off and checked the push rods all seemed straight nothing bent but one of the channel plates was bent ,not sure if it was bent before i did the cam swap or not could this som eof my problem area? Would like to know if and ho wmuch lift the pedestal rocker set up can handle the cam has 448 intake lift and 472 exhaust
just for the record i did the one plug wire at a time while running to see if the noise changes and there wasn't any so im pretty sure its not anything down deeper in the engine
The rattle gets louder with hard acceleration typical cruising not too bad ! Any thought welcome

Pedestals will handle more lift than that. I ran a set of 1.7 Cobra rollers on a B303 cam on E7 heads. That put the lift at the valve to .512 from .480 with 1.6's . Might just be that bent channel kept the rocker pedestal from seating fully, causing the noise.

No shims needed when I ran that combo. Geometry was fine.
