Well to start with i started ripping in to my 88 HO for the mav and got to thinking....... Will every thing work together?!?!? i want to build a stout 331, use stock or spider 2 EFI, and send it through my c4.... so first off dose any one know a reasonable 331 kit, Plus will i have to chip my ecu or what would i have to do on that route. also im planning on usinf the 93 mustang ecu and mass air meater. Any info helps

if im not mistaken, there's a fellow board member that has an EFI 347 so i dont see any reason why you cant build an EFI setup for ur 331

If youre going to go EFI, why not just Megasquirt it and have full tunability and no pesky mass air meter to worry about? They are not that bad to tune yourself provided you have a driver, and you can build the entire system yourself.

I agree. They even have a kit where you can connect it directly into a stock Ford EFI harness. If I were going to build an EFI stroker motor, I would go with the Megasquirt, no doubt about it.

thank you for the info. dose any one know if i can put a rotating assembly from a 28 oz. in to a 50 oz. block? how the spyder and spyder 2 intakes would work on a 331. and what all do you need to know to program / tune the mega squirt?

All strokers are 28 oz, I think. I put a 331 in a '93 Mustang, AOD car a few months ago. I think it was a DSS shortblock, OE roller block. He got it dynoed & a chip burned for it this morning. 315 hp/ 355ft.lbs @ 4500 rpm at the wheels.(y)

They can be balanced 28 or 50 oz.

They can be balanced to whatever you want. But, most are 28oz.

thanks guys....:thumbs2: as i take it the mega squirt is a speed density system? how easy is it to mod the stock 93 ecu for this engine?

My 331 is 0 balanced, It is the EAGLE kit, I personally wouldn't fool with the stock computer, Especially if you are starting from scratch. If you use the stock stuff you will either have to rely on someone to "BURN you a tune" or buy something like the PMS or sct tuner. (I recommend the PMS) if you are going that route. But the MEGASQUIRT is a much simpler and cost effective way to go.it can be ran as a speed density or alpha n. And you wont have to rely on someone else's tune. But i do recommend to get a wideband air fuel meter. If you must use a "stock computer" try to find a "A9L" these are the better one to tune. Most of these were on the early COBRA cars 93-95. On a side note, We do have a 331 in a 95 model mustang running a stock computer, But he has stock e7te heads with a very small cam. The car runs "OK" but to really take advantage of the stroker he would need bigger heads and cam. So you may or may not be able to get away with running the stock computer set up because i have saw cars similar to this one that would through a fit with the same setup. Some computers are more forgiving than others. Hope this helps.
