Bluegrass, I can now answer the question you asked when I started this conversion. "WHY EFI"? That was a learning experience and a half! I got the 5.0 running and have test driven it a while now. I cant belive the difference in the way that engine runs!! No fault codes to report as of yesterday sir! So, everything is working very well. This thing is scary fast! Just how I like em! I dont think I could have got a carb to run this good. it starts everytime, not touch of the gas pedal, never misses a lick, and Ive yet to burn up a half tank of fuel in my 50 miles of running it around the neighborhood. That with doing nothing to enahnce the computer programs, just as it was when it came out of the t-bird. I plan to bracket race this car. Im putting on a throttle stop, and a set of 4.56 gears with a C4 tranny. No stall. 1/8th mile track,, So it ought to be quick, with some consistancy. Sometime down the road, Ill install a belt driven supercharger. No exhaust to mess with, just plug it in to dial the engine in! I love that with EFI!!! I will have to swap it to Mass Air to do that, Im hoping all I have to do is use a late model computer and run the wiring, and not have to change much in the harness. ChadS
Congratulations, Chad! By the way you planned it all out, I'm not surprised at your level of success. Good luck at the track (and look for rules against using a throttle stop in your class ). Looking forward to hearing some good numbers from you.
Nice isn't it? Now look for a Kenne Bell 1500 blower. It can be used without conversion to Mass Air. up to about 8 psi boost. It should about fit in place of the upper intake and still close the hood. Then you will really have traction problems unless you go wide slicks and traction control. Need any help on this, give me a buzz.
