From time-to-time, I’ve read posts concerning electric fuel pump wiring and/or installation of either an aftermarket electronic ignition, or a newer Ford Duraspark to an older points system. One of the issues discussed have been about “mixed results” when wiring in the Fuel Safety Shut-off Switch, and finding that the pump is running, when the key is in the “run” position, and the engine not running (zero oil pressure). I recently installed a Duraspark ignition and an electric fuel pump into my 1970 Maverick 200 six. I used a diode to prevent “feedback” voltage into the fuel pump circuit. On the engine compartment side, the start voltage source and the resistive line are connected together, before attaching to the ignition coil (in the standard points set-up). I attached a schematic diagram. Hope this helps.
