I had read in a book from autozone that stated an engine code could be found on the deck surface below the distributor and above the fuel pump. The code on my block is F19Z. Nowhere in that book does this code exzist, for an engine code or any engine related part. Is this common? Does anyone on here know much about codes? I looked up other codes for engine parts and found them to be correct, do you think someone miss coded the engine? I know about the foundary casted plate above the starter but I haven't had time to look. The car is a 73 V8 Comet.

You are looking at a date code maybe?
I think the engine ID code is on the block near the starter.
