What is everyones best Steering wheel to floor shifter transplant? I like the stock looking floor shifter set up myself. How has yours worked for you?, and what did you like about it? Easy to do? Aftermarket or stock? looking to install something on the floor in my 73 maverick with v-8 transplant. Thanks
I have the B&M megashifter. Pretty easy to use. Might try something else next time. Just for a different look.
B&M Star looks like it was made to fit a Maverick, Works great too. Mine has been in the car since 1995 and has never missed a shift.
I'm running a Hurst V Matic II. It's about the same as a B&M Starshifter. Trigger lock out for reverse, detent or ratchet shift. Easy to install, only have to drill a 3/8" hole for the cable and 1/4" holes to bolt it down.
i love the b&m pro ratchet. its small where as the mega shifte is huge. it works really well, is nhra leagle. its avaiable in alum or black.
Hurst Pro2 shifter in my 74 good street shifter, but for racing I'm not so sure... Paid $136 bucks for it 18 months ago same store is $177 bucks now.
I've used several different aftermarket shifters, and have always come back to the tried and true B&M Pro stick... simple and effect and not bad looking either. I've used a megashifter, starshifter and drove a car w/ a hurst in it before. I hated them all.
i myself having a manual transmission went with a hurst competition shifter, grafted to accept the T-5 bolt holes and, a standard white shift knob. I'm planning on pairing it with a wood steering wheel, like out of a mustang. i find it really give a muscle car look.
When I had an auto, I used a stock '67 Mustang shifter. It has a small footprint on the tunnel, and it works great.
