ford 8 inch rear end

    I would think a rear end would be a rear end, but is there a difference in years in ours? are the comet ones more heavy duty? Beefier axil's ?

    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    No more beef than any other Mav/Comet 8"...But...The 4 lug and 5 lug axles are not interchangeable. Smaller bearings and ends on the 4 lugs...

    Perfect, so a 73 mav 8 inch will fit snug as a bug in a 72 comet?

    70 mav, 71 grabber, 73 Comet, 2004 f-250 crew cab diesel, 2001 f-250, 2004 explorer, 2007 Gold Wing trike.
    It will fit. Only differences in 8" rear ends are the gears. Either 2.79 or 3.00 And wether it is 4 or 5 lugs. All 5 lugs are the same except for gear ratios. :)
