Just found a '72, poster says prior owner did some amateur drag, and posted wheel, shifter, instruments as modded. What should I look for in regard to other unmentioned possible mods for drag, a general concerns for a 72? 39k on current 302. Seller did not specify rebuild info or new engine info in post. Interior, exterior photos are hot. Frame concerns? Suspension concerns? Axel mod, or wear concerns? Thanks for the time.
Any chance of finding out how fast the car was? He mentioned amateur drag, if the car was used for bracket racing and wasn't very fast I would say that lessens concerns of abuse/damage. I done right and cared for properly it still shouldn't be an issue, my GTO went in the high 11's and I still drove it with no worries.
Here are some pics. My car runs mid 11s and I have no issues driving it, dont really care to drive it long distances with the 4.00 gears though http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/4896478441.html
I highly doubt that car has any damage due to do drag racing. I'd be surprised if it was even drag raced. Price is a little steep, check the vinyl top for rust (any bubbling of the top indicates a rust issue. Check behind the rear wheels for rust as thats a common area for rot. The car is worth closer to 5k than to the 7k they're asking. Look at the vin and make sure it has the 93 towards the beginning of the vin (should be the 3rd and 4th digit).
Has a sunroof and it supposedly does not leak and is fully functional. Seller does say there is some bubbling under the vinyl. What's it look like to address rust under vinyl?.
Yeah I'd be far more concerned with rust than a little drag racing... The seller did say , "It was my primary car for a few months and always worked for me" so unless he's hiding something the past racing should be a non issue...
yep, check the vin. I'm not sold on the sport mirrors being stock, the hood lip trim is missing. two different seat cover patterns (front to back).
If it is solid like the seller claims it looks like a decent car, you couldn't get there for the money spent. You would have more than the asking price in paint and body work if you had a car loke mine!
Rust under a vinyl to is a pain because the vinyl has to be replaces after fixing the rust or it is a lot of block sanding to clean up the top for paint. I helped a friend with a Mustang and it took along time to clean it up.
