I have been accumulating all new front suspension parts for my 71 Mav, but I'm not sure what springs to get. I'll have an aluminum intake and heads on a 302, a three row "stock" size radiator, and no A/C. I know lowering is in style, but I like the raised up look...just a hair lower in the front than the attached photo.

I want the radius of the wheel opening to be on about the same center as a 15" (225/60/15) tire. I know this isn't the look that a lot of people are going for, but I was hoping for some input on a specific spring and where to buy it.

I know the handling will suffer, but I like the look enough to deal with it. I was just looking for someone with a similar setup to mine that got the results I'm looking for using an off the shelf spring.

    Thanks

Unfortunately, its really a "trial-&-error" thing. I'd start with a new set of 550 pound V-8 coil springs. That might give you what you're after...

I would think that the 550 lb spring might lower it a little. T.L. did it lower the car a bit? If so maybe 1 or 1.5 inches. With the lighter front end weight, maybe the car would come back up just a bit. I'm just thinking. I order my springs already lowerd. I'm not to happy with then. I order them 2 inches lower. I'm thinking about a mustang spring 550 lb or 600 lb.

I'm talking about stock-height V-8 springs, not lowering springs....

I'm sorry. I didn't know 550 lb was a stock spring. I thought 550 lb was an aftermarket performance spring.

Just buy a V8 spring and cut it down until it is the height you like ....

I just noticed your pic ... seems like the springs you have now should work ... you should be able to just cut them down til your happy ...

Here's a picture of my Maverick that's raised just a little bit. Is this the "raised up" look you are looking for?

definitely a trial and error......if you start cutting, make sure when you get done that you take it to a shop and get the front end aligned.

here is mine with 2 rounds off 6 banger springs....it is really to low for a daily driver, puts the tranny pan a little low to the ground....but I like it:D

I used 620 springs for performance ,but as an option ,you can get spring spacers that go on top of spring to raise it up a bit. I would not raise it more than an inch to inch and a half over stock tho. JMO
